The HEV Technology program at TCAT-Crossville provides training in hybrid and electric vehicle fundamentals as well as other systems in which a technician may be challenged. This program also provides you with the opportunity to troubleshoot and repair actual vehicles in the shop. Training will consist of classroom instruction, computer aided instruction and experiments, as well as hands-on projects on actual hybrid and electric vehicles.
As the CAFÉ standards are called to be raised, the markets for hybrid and electric vehicles are increasing, and the need for qualified technicians will also increase. These technicians will be sought after by manufacturers, dealerships, and especially independent auto repair shops. They would also be an asset to companies that employ a hybrid or electric fleet. The HEV technician will need to possess both mechanical and electrical skills. This course will help develop and bring those skills together as they pertain to hybrid and electric vehicles.
